Master Brazilian Pandeiro (frame drum of 14 inches with jingles)

These series of videos deal with a study on a Brazilian Pandeiro (frame drum of 14 inches with jingles) I have done in recent years.
I called it :“both hands style”.
I found out a lot of different sounds, coming out from this surprising instrument, and I’d like to share this with you.
I put the Pandeiro on a snare stand, but before doing that, I glued some pieces of foam rubber on the arms of the stand itself, to allow the Pandeiro to “float” on the foam, in order to get a better sound.
The tuning of the Pandeiro is such to obtain a very low sound by the plastic head I put on the instrument.
I used a combination of various and different techniques, taking inspiration from some great musicians like John Bergamo, Glen Velez, Zohar Fresco, Zakir Ussein, Carlo Rizzo and many others.
Others sounds and various possibilities I also discovered while improvising on the instrument itself (and they surprised me too!); and the study is still going on…..

Queste serie di video riguardano uno studio che ho approfondito negli ultimi anni su un Pandeiro brasiliano (tamburo a cornice da 14 pollici con piattini).
Ho denominato questa tecnica: “both hands style “.
Ho scoperto una molteplicità di suoni diversi, provenire da questo sorprendente strumento, e mi piacerebbe condividere tutto questo con chiunque fosse interessato.
Ho sistemato il Pandeiro su un supporto da rullante, ma prima di farlo, ho incollato alcuni pezzi di gommapiuma sulle braccia dello stand stesso, per consentire al pandeiro di “galleggiare” sulla gommapiuma, al fine di ottenere un suono migliore.
La intonazione del Pandeiro è tale da ottenere un suono aperto molto basso; ho utilizzato una pelle sintetica .
Nei video ho usato una combinazione di varie e differenti tecniche, prendendo ispirazione da alcuni grandi musicisti come John Bergamo, Glen Velez, Zohar Fresco, Zakir Ussein, Carlo Rizzo e molti altri.
Ho scoperto inoltre una serie di suoni e varie possibilità tecniche, mentre improvvisavo sullo strumento stesso, che non mi aspettavo (e devo dirvi che hanno sorpreso anche me!)… e lo studio è ancora in corso …
